My Fever Releases New Album

The music industry is one that moves in tides. You might have noticed that major record releases typically happen on Tuesdays. Or that bands you love sometimes abscond for a year to a secluded mansion in South America to write a new album full of tunes. Meanwhile, you do what’s necessary and listen to all their old stuff, until it gets… well… old. But what if you got two new songs from your favorite artists every couple of months? That’s what Panama City alumns MY FEVER, are doing with a series of mini releases they so aptly call “twins.” The band has already yielded an outstanding EP (as well as two singles in 2015), but their latest voyage, titled Twin A is what guitarist/vocalist Weston Hine calls “an experiment to share more music with fans.”
Essentially, Twin A is a two-track EP created with the purpose of giving fans more of what they want; music. It’s also about getting that music out quicker. But enough concerning the innovation. What’s important are the songs. If you’ve heard MY FEVER’s debut composition “See the Light,” you will understand where “Newcomers” and “The Getaways” fit on the family tree. The band has clearly saved some of their savory bits for such a time as this. The first is a straight up old-fashioned shred party with rising vocal tensions and a singsong chorus. The tune is over long before you’re ready. “The Getaways” feels more like a West Coast beach romp. For fans of the theory that Rivers Cuomo is actually Kurt Cobain in disguise, this tune will resonate with your tastes for talky overdrives, crash mutes, and a trashcan outro for the books.
If you couldn’t get enough of MY FEVER’s “See the Light” EP or you’re contemplating a dip into their salty waters for the very first time, Twin A is the absolute best way for you to spend the next six-and-a-half minutes of your life. It’s a quick jolt of finely-tuned artistry to remind you that it is still possible to love music for its digestive value; for something deeper than catchiness or water cooler relevancy. It’s rock and roll, and it feels pretty damn good.
Twin A is available wherever music is sold (or streamed) online, including iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, and Apple Music. Catch MY FEVER live at one of their frequent southeastern performances or visit them online at www.myfeverband.com.
