INSIPID – Art Exhibit at Amavida
Art by Landon Morgan, an artist from Panama City, was on exhibit at Amavida Coffee in Historic St.Andrews in June.
The exhibit showed pen-and-ink drawings and one hand-cut lino print, a process in which the artist carves into a block of linoleum to produce a design, rolls it with ink, and prints it onto paper.

Landon currently resides in Brooklyn, New York and is back in Panama City for only a short time visiting family. The show was curated by another Panama City artist, Jordan Kady, who explains “Landon is a tattoo artist, so a lot of the works in the show are what’s known as “flash sheets.” Flash is one or several tattoo designs drawn on paper to demonstrate an artist’s work. It is used for display in tattoo shops but more and more flash is being sold or traded among tattoo artists. What’s so neat about Landon’s flash is that he works in a very specific style and treats each page according to a certain theme.”
As an artist, Jordan Kady is looking at each individual piece of art with special appreciation, “There is a deep message.Thematically the works range in topic, yet all the works deal in some form of social or spiritual exploration. Examples include the piece “Lavinia’s Wild Years,” a flash sheet that features women in poses that represent how they are often socially gendered. The piece transcends simply being a flash sheet and instead represents a larger concept or idea.Hence, Landon effectively bridges the gap between tattoo art and fine art by producing drawings that possess characteristics of both. Other works in the show demonstrate Landon’s versatility as an artist.Works range from large flash sheets to small postcard-sized pieces that possess incredible detail.”

Special edition prints of one of these smaller works called “Bottle Your Feelings… Sell Them” are available at Amavida (a special run just for INSIPID) Edition of 35, all signed by Landon.
Within the next year, Landon will be working on combining his work with that of another tattoo artist into a published book that will showcase their art.
The Blue Ribbon Healers played at the show opening in May and guests were invited to try Amavida’s newest coffee creation in its experimental phase, the nitro cold brew coffee tap. The nitro cold brew is a new way of charging iced coffee with nitrogen gas. Jordan Kady tells us, “Nitrogen gives the coffee a great new flavor and is something Amavida Coffee is experimenting with. This was the first night that we rolled out the nitrogen tap. It was a long-time goal of Amavida’s owner, Dan Bailey, to try it out and he brought the idea to Phill Mercer who designed and built the prototype system.”
