Gretchen Taylor – Diary of a Jackwagon
Diary of a Jackwagon is the humorous musings and personal stories of comedian, Tim Hawkins. In his debut book, Hawkins proves that Christianity is anything but mundane by making you laugh out loud from cover to cover. A real and honest, yet clean look at everyday life is what makes this book so hilarious. The chapters tackle subjects such as family, faith, and pop culture making the book relatable to anyone. I found his style of humor to be comparable to famous comedian, Jim Gaffigan. The chapters are also short which makes it great for reading when you’ve only got a few minutes, but it also makes it hard to put down in other situations. I caught myself saying that I’d only read one more chapter and finding myself 10 chapters further before finally closing the book. I was already familiar with Tim Hawkins through his various YouTube videos. For me, they enhanced reading the book. The whole time I was reading I could hear Hawkins’ voice and usually knew his pace, making the jokes that much funnier. I would highly recommend watching some of his videos before or after reading the book. Warning though, his videos are just as addictive as this book! Once you begin Diary of a Jackwagon you won’t want to put it down. It’s refreshing to read something so funny without feeling bad about reading it or sharing it with others. Hawkins might be a self-proclaimed “jackwagon,” but he’s definitely doing something right!
