Cupid Clash – Crossfit Competition

In February, CrossFit Gym hosted “Cupid’s Clash,” a CrossFit competition of teams made up of significant others. On the weekend before Valentine’s Day, the couples competed in six different WOD’s (work out of the day.) The high intensity work outs included weightlifting, gymnastics, and powerlifting. The gym hosted CrossFit Athletes from around the region and scores were counted for each workout.
Jake Sostheim, owner of Mirror Image CrossFit and fiancé, Lexi, organized the event and frequently work out together. It truly benefits their relationship, they say.
The workout categories included “RX” and “Scaled.” RX is what could be “prescribed” for a seasoned crossfit competitor, and “scaled” is a scaled back version of the RX.
After one last workout equipped with a lot of burpees, squats, and pull-ups, the top three winners were announced.
Winners of the RX division:
1st place: Chris Harris and Caroline Meadows of All In CrossFit Gym, Auburn, Alabama
2nd place: Tev and Ashley Davis of Commando CrossFit Gym, Hurlburt Field, Florida
3rd place: Jacob Fillmore and Alex Merritt of All In CrossFit, Auburn, Alabama
Winners of the Scaled division:
1st place: Ryann Sellers/Nes Cober of All-In CrossFit Gym, Auburn, Alabama
2nd place: Hana Whitfield/Bailey Singletary of Shock Fitness CrossFit, Blounstown, Florida
3rd place: Andrew Bryant of CrossFit Black Box, Tallahassee, Florida
Owner, Jake Sostheim and co-founder Josh Sostheim have a passion for hosting CrossFit competitions. Jake says, “We create an atmosphere… loud, encouraging and fun. It is very rewarding to see people doing things in competition they didn’t think they could do. Some getting their first pull-up, or hitting the heaviest weight they have ever done. Seeing everyone’s joy and overcoming adversity in workouts is why I teach and believe in CrossFit.”
