Bullets, Bling and Southern Things

By Val Schoger

One of the newest stores in Historic St. Andrews has become a destination in itself. Barely noticeable on Beck Avenue, this eclectic southern lifestyle store puts its charms on once you enter through the door. Jewelry created by southern artists,  unique western-oriented clothing, gifts that remind you of the old south like the  embroidered linen tea towels, all are uniquely displayed like works of art. Rustic-romantic furniture pieces make for southern flair and one can simply not look far without finding yet another must-have accessory or fashion piece that catches the eye.

The door chimes did not stay still for long on the days I visited the store and the store owner, Angela Bradley, smiles and confirms “business is good”. When I finally get a few minutes of customer-free time with Angela, I have already picked out one bracelet and a belt that will have to come home with me.

Angela is a true can-do-it-all kinda girl. She and her boyfriend Adam Roed refurbished the entire store interior and that does not just include the handcrafted decoration, but truly top to

bottom restoration from re-staining the wood flooring to building the sales counter. Angela, who was previously a development planner for the biggest land development company in Bay County, is taking her love and passion for communities and design to create functional and unique accent furniture pieces. They are her own unique creations, from stain to upholstery and she exclusively uses reclaimed wood for her projects. What once started as a hobby has now become Angela’s own brand of much sought after handcrafted furniture. When I ask Angela about a colorful wooden bench that I imagine sitting beautifully on my terrace, she politely lets me know that it is already sold and that she could make one similar to it to order… but basically, I would have to get in line, there are already other orders ahead of me. I admit, for this piece I really do not mind waiting.

My eyes wander back and forth from furniture to cowgirl attire and I am not just bedazzled but bereft… I never considered myself a country-fan but most of these items are simply stunning, cute and when tried on, extremely flattering. Absolute best sellers are the cowgirl boots by Bodacious Boot Company personally embellished and bejeweled by Bradley. Fall is coming and if our romantic cover picture has inspired you, then head on down to Crystal Pistol for your personal southern look.
Angela posts new stock and sales items frequently on the store’s facebook site. Check it out at www.facebook.com/TheCrystalPistol for the best bling in town or check out her special offers on the SpotOn App!
