BREAKFAST POINT ACADEMY RECEIVES $10,000 GRANT FOR ROBOTIC SOFTWARE

Breakfast Point Academy, Bay County, received a $10,000 grant from The St. Joe Community Foundation (Foundation) to help fund and improve their Robotics classes currently offered to 7th and 8th grade students. Keri Weatherly, the Principal at Breakfast Point Academy, accepted the grant at a recent Bay County School Board meeting. Ms. Weatherly stated the grant will help to increase student’s interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) related activities in the middle and elementary school. The Robotics Class is an elective course at Breakfast Point Academy that includes building robots, using robotic software and engaging in real-world experiences.

“Education is one of the key areas the Foundation funds” says Janet Greeno, Executive Director of the Foundation. “The Robotics software grant will allow students the ability to create and build a robot, and possibly compete in Lego Robotic Competitions. If there is one class that excites and engages students while teaching them at the same time in any grade, it is robotics.”
