BAY MEDICAL CENTER SACRED HEART APPOINTS SCOTT CAMPBELL CEO
Bay Medical Center Sacred Heart has appointed veteran hospital leader Scott Campbell as its new chief executive officer. He will begin his new role on June 1.
Campbell brings nearly 30 years of healthcare leadership experience, having led the operations of
hospitals and health systems throughout the country. Known for his ability to build strong relationships with employees and medical staffs while advancing improvements in quality, safety and financial stability, Campbell most recently served as CEO of Providence Health in Columbia, South Carolina. Under his leadership, the two-hospital system achieved high marks for its quality and patient satisfaction, including recognition by US News and World Report’s Best Hospitals Rankings.
Previously, Campbell spent 24 years with Health Management Associates (HMA) where he led market
operations for Physicians Regional Health System in Naples, Florida, and HMA’s Mid-Atlantic Division in Richmond, Virginia, which encompassed eight hospitals in five states. During his tenure with HMA, Campbell also served as senior vice president of physician and customer development. In this role, he recruited more than 600 primary and specialty physicians to the company’s hospitals while achieving significant gains in physician and employee satisfaction.
“We are pleased to welcome Scott to our hospital and our community,” said Lisa Walters, chairman of the Bay Medical Sacred Heart board of directors. “His experience collaborating with physicians, clinical leaders and frontline employees to grow services and improve clinical performance and patient experience will be a tremendous asset as we position our hospital for the future.”
A member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Campbell earned a master’s in healthcare administration from the Medical College of Virginia and an undergraduate degree from Virginia Commonwealth University.
