Alex & Suzie Beacham: A Romantic Wedding
Photos by Holly GardnerSuzie and Alex Beacham are both from Panama City. Although they live most of the year in Tampa, there was no question that they would get married in their hometown where both of their families live.
The beautiful ceremony, officiated by Allen Newton, and the receiption were held at the Panama Country Club in Lynn Haven.
Suzie was born and raised in Panama City. She went to Florida State University to pursue a degree in criminal justice. Many twists and turns in life lead her to Tampa in 2009, which is her home base for a career as a spokesperson for Ford Motor Company.
In the past six years her position led her across the country and has given her the opportunity to meet many great people who are very influential in her life today. When home she enjoys spending time with Alex and their puggle, Niki.
In 2002, Alex moved to Florida from Maryland. He attended Bay High School and went to Florida State University, graduating in 2009 with degrees in Real Estate and Finance.Right after graduation, Alex moved to Tampa to start his career in corporate real estate.
And while both lived in Panama City and studied at FSU, the place they met was Tampa. Suzie recalls, “We met through a mutual friend from Florida State. The moment we met there was an instant spark that neither of us could ignore, even though we still can’t agree on exactly WHERE we met! We couldn’t believe we were both from Panama City and were Seminoles! That was a day we will never forget and still celebrate it every year!”
Being on the water is one of Alex and Suzie’s favorite pastimes. They enjoy fishing and cruising in their boat. Suzie also enjoys riding her bike for miles and miles along beautiful bay shore or catching up with friends over a glass of wine while Alex loves to go duck hunting. However, Suzie tells us that on Saturdays he is typically sitting on the couch watching his beloved Seminoles beat up on their competition.
Suzie remembers every little detail about the day Alex proposed to her. They had traveled to Venice, Italy. She would realize that he had every detail planned out. “Mi vuoi sposare?” – “This is how Alex asked me to spend my life with him forever. It means will you marry me in Italian. Neither of us speak Italian but everyone speaks in diamonds! We were on a gondola in Venice, Italy and Alex asked the gondolier to take our photo. After the photo, I turned around to see Alex had pulled a small box out of his pocket and was on his knee (in the tiny boat. Thank goodness it didn’t flip!) I realized that Alex hid the ring for five days of our European vacation. The day he proposed, I had no idea what was coming. He was calm, cool and collected!”
“’Mi vuoi spore?’ – “This is how Alex asked me to spend my life with him forever. It means will you marry me in Italian.”
“I said ‘YES’ a million times, of course! We are so lucky that the gondolier kept taking photos so we have them to share with our friends and family and reminisce on how special that day was! We started planning our dream wedding right away,” Suzie concluded.
They both love to travel.Suzie tells us, “Life as newlyweds has been a lot of fun! It is so great being married to your best friend! We will continue living in Tampa and have several trips planned for the upcoming year to keep exploring the world together.”
Alex and Suzie extend a special thanks to everyone who made their wedding so spectacular. “We would like to thank our loving parents for giving us the most beautiful and incredible wedding and rehearsal dinner. Thanks to our bridal party, friends, and family for sharing our special day with us. Our wedding day was a dream come true. We couldn’t have done it without some very special people.”
Their advice to other couples: “Always remember why you chose to spend every day with this one person and make every day fun! It isn’t always easy but it is always worth it! In our travels, we love meeting older people who have been married for a long time and asking what their advice is for a long marriage. It is so much fun to learn tidbits from happily married couples, much of it we put into practice in our marriage! Also, we are both so fortunate to have parents who have been happily married for 30 plus years to look to for advice and inspiration.”
