For 25 years, the Bay Point Women’s Club has been supporting local charities through its annual fundraiser: Make it—Bake it—Sew it— Grow it.
This year’s event raised more than $35,000 to help people in Bay County. Over the last 25 years, the organization has donated more than $500,000 to local organizations and community projects such as Anchorage Children’s Home, Supper at Grace, Beach Care Services, Humane Society, and the Rick Seltzer Park, says Laura Baker, who chaired the 2015 event.
“I love that all our funds stay in Bay County. It’s always nice to see the fruits of your labor helping those members of our community in need,” said one of the organizers.
The event was born when Jeanne Sturman moved to Bay Point from Memphis, Tenn., in 1989. She brought with her a popular and effective community fundraiser she had been a part of in Memphis and re-created it as a member of the Bay Point Women’s Club.
The dedication of the members and the talents they contribute have helped make the event a continued success.
The women’s organization extends their deepest thanks to the sponsors, donors, and members; “This event could not be possible without the many members who donate their time and talents. It is because of their support that our club and this event continues to succeed.”
