BAY MEDICAL SACRED HEART ANNOUNCES NEW CEO

The Bay Medical Sacred Heart Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the selection of our new President and Chief Executive Officer, Steve Grubbs, who will begin in mid-August.  Steve joins Bay Medical Sacred Heart with more than 28 years of hospital management experience.  A native of Kentucky, Steve began his career with Humana serving as a financial specialist in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  Since that time, he has worked with several major health systems as a Chief Financial Officer and then transitioned to the position of CEO in 2005.  During his tenure as CEO, Steve has led three hospitals to new heights in quality, safety and patient satisfaction. He most recently served as CEO of Paris Regional Medical Center in Paris, Texas, a two-campus regional referral center in northeast Texas with 368 licensed beds.

Grubbs holds a BS degree in accounting from the University of Kentucky and an MBA from Bethel University.  He is a past member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and is a current member of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE).  Community service is important to Steve, as he has served as a board member of the Paris Economic Development Corporation (chairman of the board), the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce and the St. Josephs’ Community Foundation in Paris.

“I am so excited to have the opportunity to join Bay Medical Sacred Heart,” said Grubbs.  “This is truly a great hospital that celebrates a long tradition of excellent care, and I look forward to building on that tradition. This hospital is positioned well for future success and that was apparent to me after spending time with the administrative team and the hospital board. My goal is to focus on teamwork with physicians and employees to ensure the highest level of quality, safety and patient satisfaction.  When we all work together with the patient’s best interest at heart, we will continue to be the hospital of choice for all residents of the gulf coast.”

Board Chairman, Joe Trantham, MD, said, “We are pleased to welcome Steve Grubbs as our new CEO.  In addition to bringing a wealth of healthcare experience, he will be a great fit for our hospital and our community.”

Grubbs says that he and his wife Cissy, a Tennessee native, are especially excited to join the Panama City community.  He and his family have vacationed in our area for years and have always dreamed of moving here. “Our two children, Heidi and Rebekah, are adults now, so when this opportunity came up, we knew we were interested.  We are excited to join the community and the Bay Medical Sacred Heart family.  It is clear there are very talented and caring people here, so I know we have a bright future ahead.”
