Waterfront Wedding – Lauren Olivia St. Amant & Marvin Joshua Sauls

Photos by Sonja Revells

Josh and Lauren first met in elementary school at Covenant Christian school in Panama City. They met again at Mosley high school during their sophomore year and have been together ever since.

Marvin and LaurenThe couple had been together five years when they started talking about getting married and after beign together for six years Josh decided to propose by the waterfront. He gathered up all of their friends and family on the beach with a huge banner in the sand that read: Lauren will you marry me? He rented a helicopter and when the helicopter came down the beach and flew over the banner, Josh asked Lauren the same question… and of course she said yes.

The two decided to have a nautical themed wedding by the water. They booked hotel rooms at Bay Point Wyndham Resort where the bride and groom got ready for the ceremony on their special day. They took a boat from the hotel to The Shrimp Boat Restaurant in Historic St. Andrews where the wedding ceremony was held right by the waterside on St. Andrews Bay. They concluded the day at a late hour with a romantic boat ride back to the hotel and were unexpectedly accompanied by a pod of dolphins which swam alongside the boat.

Lauren tells us: “Josh and I have an interesting marriage. He runs a towing vessel offshore out of Louisiana and is gone for 4 weeks at a time and home for 2 weeks. I am a Registered Nurse at Gulf Coast Medical Center. We spend a lot of time apart but we make it work. Marriage is definitively hard work, especially with all our time apart, but Josh and I communicate well and have a lot of respect for each other which we think is key to a successful marriage. As for plans for the future we are enjoying our time we have with each other. We love to travel and experience other cultures. We just finished building a home and would love to start a family in the next few years.”

Josh and Lauren state: “Our wedding would not have been possible without our wonderful parents Joy and Trey St. Amant and Missy Sauls. Shannon Rodriguez was also instrumental in planning, decorating and directing. I cannot thank her enough. Our photos also turned out so beautiful thanks to photographer Sonja Revells.”

And their tips for young couples: “The advice we would give young brides and grooms is to slow down and enjoy life and don’t sweat the small stuff. Remember, this day is for the two of you and no one else.”
