American Legion Donates to the Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center

The American Legion Auxiliary Unit #356 generously donated $250.00 to the Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center to provide Easter baskets for children served by the Center. Approximately 100 baskets were donated as well, along with plastic eggs, stuffed animals, and various additional items to bring smiles to many local children this spring. The members of the American Legion are dedicated in their partnership with the GCCAC to advocate, educate, and prevent child abuse in our community.
The Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) serves to provide on-site agency collaboration and the use of the multidisciplinary approach in prevention, investigation, assessment, protection, referral for prosecution, and treatment of child abuse and neglect. The CAC provides a child friendly environment in which multidisciplinary staffings take place at the front end of an investigation, therefore expediting the referrals for prosecution and service provisions to help strengthen the family and prevent recurrence of abuse. Over 1120 children were served by the Center and their dedicated staff in 2014.
