Roaring Roses
…was the theme du jour on February 14, when local residents Marta Rose and Jimy Thorpe tied the knot. Taking place at Marta’s family’s Finisterre home in Panama City Beach, this Valentine’s Day, Great Gatsby-themed celebration was a captivating mixture of glittery beads dripping from chandeliers, huge crimson roses with rose petals strewn about, and swatches of black and red lining the walls, the bannister, and the grand spiral staircase rising up from the living room. The evening glowed by candlelight while guests, decked out in roaring twenties attire, danced to sultry classics and ritzy jazz played by the Blue Ribbon Healers. Two of the couple’s most enchanting moments of the night were the toasts. “Our good friend Skip introduced me to Marta a little more than a year ago,” shares Jimy, “and he gave us a great toast.” Adds Marta, “My sister Liz gave us a beautiful, heartfelt toast: a sweet ode to loving one another, and loving God.”
The Bennett’s magnificent home was the perfect backdrop for a twenties- themed ‘Lovefest.’ “Our guests looked drop-dead gorgeous!” says Marta. “Our friend Sonny lent us his 1929 Model A Ford to arrive in, and both our families came into town to help us celebrate. It was a magical night for us.”
