Masquerade Gala: A Black Cat Affair
BY ROSE CLEMO
The very much anticipated Inaugural Masquerade Gala to raise funds for homeless animals in Bay County, A Black Cat Affair, took place Saturday, October 25th at the Boardwalk Beach Resort. Much time, thought, and passion from local animal rescue groups, collectively known as “The Coalition,” and individuals in the community helped this event come to fruition. Live entertainment was provided by the Generation Band from New Orleans.
The Coalition was excited to host this spectacular event to raise monetary support and awareness about homeless animals in Bay County and to help overcome overpopulation. The Coalition is comprised of local animal welfare groups including The Humane Society of Bay County, Operation Spay Bay, Animal Rescue Center, Castaway Cats, and PCB Paws and Claws. Each rescue group involved plays an integral role in helping animals and provides services such as spaying and neutering, adopting, fostering, and humane education. The Coalition Board thanks the community, its sponsors, attendees, and volunteers for helping to make this event so successful. They are already looking forward to next years’ event!
