On the evening of May 19, the place to be was the Gulf Coast State College Foundation’s Gala, featuring the Grammy Award-winning Rick Springfield. More than 400 guests enjoyed a fabulous dinner and concert from the ‘80s legend at the Edgewater Golf & Beach Resort. GCSC Culinary Arts students kicked off the event by showing off their classroom skills and prepared delicious hors d’oeuvres for the pre-show reception.
The evening served a greater purpose as all of the proceeds from the gala were earmarked for military and veteran students through the GCSC Foundation. The Honorable Jimmy Patronis, Jr. and Tom Lewis emceed the event and live auction, which included a guitar autographed by Rick Springfield.
The community has always been generous in supporting the Foundation’s mission of providing educational opportunities through scholarships and enhancing educational programs at the College. Floyd Skinner, Gala Program Chair, expressed his gratitude for the community’s support. “We want to thank our terrific sponsors for supporting the Foundation Gala. The event raised more than $70,000, which in turn will be used to support our military and veteran students at the College. It’s very humbling to see so many members of the community coming out to support our Gulf Coast students.”
