ROAD TRIP – Florida Caverns State Forest

60 Minute Drive from Downtown Panama City

Located just an hour’s drive northeast of Panama City you will find Florida Caverns State Park, the perfect place to spend a day exploring a completely different Florida landscape. This park has gorgeous trails leading through upland hardwood forests interspersed with limestone outcroppings, caves, and bluffs overlooking flooded cypress swamp lowlands. Dry caves are a rare occurrence in Florida due to its low elevation and here you will find the only guided cavern tours in the state. With an average temperature of 65 degrees underground, this cave not only allows you to marvel at its beautiful geologic features, it is also a great escape from the afternoon heat. If you are still looking to beat the summer heat, the nearby Blue Springs Recreational Area offers crystal clear spring-fed waterways that are perfect for swimming, boating, and fishing. Underwater limestone rock formations make this a popular destination for diving
and snorkeling.
