Cub Scout Pack 323 Welcomed Aboard LCAC at Navy Base

PANAMA CITY, Fla. – Cub Scouts of America Pack 323 visited the Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) June 1, 2015 and conducted a promotional ceremony onboard Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) 66.

The ceremony, referred to as a Cross-Over ceremony by the Scouts, essentially Closes out the Scout year and promotes each scout to the next rank. The ceremony was held onboard LCAC 66. Scout leaders, Chris Voorheis and Jim Wolf, are also NSWC PCD employees. Voorheis, a 323 den leader, is a project engineer, and Wolf, who is a leader with Boy Scout Troop 300, is a LCAC fleet support representative. The employees hosted the pack as part of a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) outreach effort.

After the award ceremony, the scouts, along with their leaders and parents, visited the base’s Morale, Welfare and Recreation Marina.
