Bay Point Women’s Club celebrates 40 year anniversary and 27th year of charitable Giving

Founded 40 years ago, The Bay Point Women’s Club is the oldest organization of the Bay Point neighborhood. Established to encourage community spirit, founder Dotty Reams’ original dream to “better the lives of others” lives on through the club’s current members. The Club has approximately 300 members today and has organized the annual charitable auction known as “Make It Bake It Sew It Grow It” for the past 27 years. The 2017 theme, “Give That Others May Receive” reflects the heart of giving. As a 40th anniversary surprise, the “Ruby Red Sponsor” program was unveiled by auction chairperson, Susan Eberhardt. This sponsorship program raised $8,500 for charity. The club’s 1996 president, Jackie Connor, introduced and extended special thanks to Karen Durden and her late husband Earl Durden and the Earl Durden Foundation for their continued support and generous donations to the club. Additionally, Jackie Connor, PD Landreth, and Jeanine Maclary were honored in the “Ruby Red Sponsor” program. This year, attendees enjoyed a succulent lunch with the main course of Grilled Bistro Flat Iron Steak, Roasted Squash Succotash, and Haricot Vert French Green Beans and S’mores Dessert in the ballroom of the beautifully renovated Sheraton Bay Point Resort.
